Powerful and expressive, with structure and perfume that promise a long life in the cellar. Medium-bodied with black and blue berries, dried flowers and licorice. Smoky, ripe and juicy with a fleshy texture.

Fruit was hand-sorted and destemmed. After a 4-day cold soak, the fermenters warmed naturally and were gently punched down once or twice a day at the onset of fermentation. After fermentations reached a peak temperature of 88 degrees, the new wine was aerated once a day and pressed at dryness. Wine was racked to barrels and aged 10 months on lees.

The Casteel Pinot Noir is always intended to be the best expression of the Bethel Heights estate in each vintage. In 2019, they had two blocks in the vineyard that again exceeded expectations and have become the cornerstones of the Casteel program. Vineyard is Certified Organic.
