Homan yields a very red-fruited expression of Cabernet. Mindy’s tends to bring blue and black fruits to a blend, and the two sites compliment each other well. Red currants, blue plums, black cherries, granite and a light touch of refreshing mistiness are supported by firm yet smooth tannins.

Hand-harvested at night, hand-sorted and destemmed. For the Cabernet, a 6-day cold soak is followed by a native fermentation in stainless steel. The Malbec and Petit Verdot came off the vine on the same day and were natively co-fermented. Post-fermentation, several of the lots were allowed a 30 to 45-day extended maceration while undergoing Malo, refining the tannins. After aging 15 months in mostly neutral barriques, the wines were racked and blended, then bottled unlined and unfiltered.

Homan resides in the central El Pomar District. Winds from the Templeton Gap ensure a slower, even ripening season for grapes grown on gently-sloped hillsides. Mindy’s is located in the Adelaida District, and area well-known for providing structure and backbone. Both vineyards are sustainable and organic, with vines aging 5-15-years-old.
