Gularte brings tension, with a racy core of sweet citrus oils, tangerine, Meyer lemon, citronella and ghee. Olson fleshes out the palate with mandarin blossom, vanilla bean flowers, fresh chèvre, honey and closes out the finish with sea salt.
Hand-harvested at night. Native yeast fermented in a combination of stainless and barriques. Aged 9 months on fine lees in 10% new oak barriques. Bottled unlined and unfiltered.
Gularte is a newer vineyard that is already showing promise. Located just north of the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA, the eastern-facing vineyard rows are bathed in afternoon sunlight while being cooled from icy Monterey Bay winds. Olson is situated on a steep, sandy hill overlooking Highway 101 and just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean. Farming is sustainable and organic.
