A fuller-bodied traditional style of Nebbiolo. A bright ruby red color with aromas of red fruits, spicy notes and balsamic hints on the nose. Elegant and approachable with long and persistent tannins. This is a fine, complex, mineral-driven wine, and a great expression of its terrior.
Hand-harvested and ferments spontaneously in concrete tanks. They do not punch down, using the traditional steccatura method to keep the cap submerged. Aged 8 months in large Slavonian oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
The Roccalini Vineyard has plantings going back as far as 1961. It sits at a Southwestern exposure on a hill overlooking the Tanaro River at 1,000ft elevation. The soil is a combination of clay and marl. The grapes for the Langhe Nebbiolo come from the youngest plantings. Roccalini is a biodynamically farmed vineyard.
