Variety: Cabernet Franc
Location: Loire Valley, France
Alcohol: 13.4%

Deep in color and very fine and pure on the palate with a real finesse of tannins and structure, this is a beautiful expression of variety and site. A serious and stunning Saumur rouge that will age effortlessly.

This wine sees a long maceration to elaborate the aromatics linked to this soil texture, followed by 12 to 18 months aging in neutral barrique.

The greater vineyard of Les Poyeux hosts a mythical terroir, home to some of the Loire’s most coveted red wines. Les Poyeux consists of 2 very distinct terroirs with unique expressions, in spite of the soil components being similar. Les Hauts Poyeux sits at a higher elevation and its distinctiveness is in its depth of topsoil – 60cm of the famous Poyeux sand before reaching the first levels of clay and limestone. Fabien Duveau is the 8th generation of his family to make wine in Samur-Champigny. Farming organically and cultivating biodiversity in and around the vineyards are integral to Fabien’s aim of making wines that express both “the complex nature of the land and the know-how of its winemakers.”
