Crisp aromas of cherry, cranberry, cocoa dust and dried herb with a palate of savory herb and red alpine fruit. Fine tannins and cool lift.
Grapes were 100% destemmed and placed directly into the tank. A natural pied de cuve was placed in the tank on day 2. Punchdowns were performed once a day and the tank was pressed after 10 days. The wine was aged a total of 11 months in neutral French oak.
Established in the early 1970s, this historic, four-generation-old Ranch is located in the southern end of the rugged Santa Cruz Mountains. The Cabernet Sauvignon grows at a peak altitude of 2,100 feet and an extreme southeast slope of 30%. The vineyards are dry farmed in well-drained silt soils with inclusions of decomposed, iron-rich volcanic magma.
