Smockshop Band 2017 Zinfandel
Sandlands 2012 Trousseau
The Wine: A super light and refreshing bright red-fruited Trousseau with earthiness and minerality to balance and a finish of tangy acidity for good measure. Fermented whole-cluster with native yeasts and aged 11 months in neutral Burgundy barrels before being bottled unfined & unfiltered. 13.2% Alc.
The Winery: Sandlands is the personal project of Tegan and Olivia Passalacqua. The line-up encompasses the forgotten classic California varieties, primarily grown in decomposed granite from regions and vineyards that have been farmed for many generations but have remained the outliers of California Viticulture.
Carboniste 2019 Blanc de Noir 'Philo'
The Wine: Made from 100% Pinot Noir that masquerades as Chardonnay, this sparkling is light and pretty, blooming with kumquat, meyer lemon and candied ginger aromatics. Whole-cluster pressed and fermented in barrel with native and commercial yeast for 3 weeks before spending 12 months in barrel on the fermentation sediment. Wine was bottled with fresh yeast and a small amount of sugar and left to age 9 months. After a light dosage, bottles were capped to preserve the natural youth and freshness of the wine. 12.5% Alc.
The Winery: Carboniste is a project by Jacqueline and Dan Person which reimagines sparkling wine through the lens of California. By allowing the ample bright fruit in the wines to flourish by keeping things light, they’ve traded a sparkling which attempts to re-create Champagne stateside with a more relaxed style of sparkling wine meant for everyday enjoyment. They source from a range of cool-climate vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Marin County, and focus on grapes seldom used in sparkling wines like Albariño and Pinot Grigio.
Smockshop Band 2017 Zinfandel
The Wine: A bright, refreshing style of Zinfandel with a wonderful perfumed herbal and botanical aromas with fresh, crunchy fruits, florals and salty minerality. Completely destemmed before fermenting on the skins for two weeks. It went directly to barrel after pressing and bottled after 10 months of aging. 13.5% Alc.
The Winery: Smockshop Band wines are a side project of Tzum and Hiyu in the Columbia Gorge in Oregon. The wines are blends of grapes from different sites and envisioned as accessible introductions to the beauty of the Columbia Gorge beyond Hiyu.
