Variety: 100% Dolcetto
Location: SLO Coast, CA
Alcohol: 12%
Medium ruby in the glass with a lifted aromatic profile of coastal red berries, wild strawberry and cranberry accented by subtle herbal tones and a slight sea breeze salinity. The palate is vibrant yet poised, balancing juicy red fruit with fine-grained tannins and refreshing acidity.
Fruit was fully destemmed and fermented with native yeast in 228L upright barrels. The ferment received daily hand punch downs and was pressed at dryness in a wooden basket press. This wine was aged in neutral wood, larger format, 80 gallon barrels for 10 minutes. The wine was racked to the first time to bottle, without fining or filtration. Minimal sulfur was used at bottling.
This small backyard slope sits above the eastern side of the Bassi Vineyard. Planted to just 15 rows of Dolcetto, these vines grow on the same sandstone soils as the Bassi Vineyard. Farmed entirely by hand and Certified Biodynamic.
