A Chardonnay of tension and energy—driven by vibrant acidity, citrus and green apple notes, and a mineral backbone reflective of its sites.

Fruit is harvested cold and whole-cluster pressed. The juice is settled overnight without sulfur, then racked with light solids to fermentation: Spear to stainless steel, Oak Savannah to concrete amphora. The Spear portion receives a minimal sulfur addition to inhibit malolactic fermentation, preserving freshness and acidity. The Oak Savannah portion undergoes both primary and secondary fermentation, developing texture and depth. After six months of aging, the components are blended and prepared for bottling. Careful filtration and low dissolved oxygen management preserve a crisp, clean profile. No new oak is used.

Fruit is coming from 90% Spear Vineyard and 10% Oak Savannah Vineyard. Spear Vineyard, with its northeast-facing slopes in the Sta. Rita Hills, exemplifies the region’s cool climate, extended growing season, and distinctive soils. Planted in 2014 by Ofer Shepher, the fruit is sourced from three unique blocks, each contributing nuance and structure. Oak Savannah Vineyard, located just north of Los Olivos, was planted in the early 1980s by Felipe Hernandez, and is the highest-elevation Chardonnay site in the Santa Ynez Valley (over 1,500 ft). Own-rooted vines and wide spacing produce a classic California expression with intensity and freedom of character.
