Balanced but racy with some salinity on the finish. This is a cool climate Chardonnay and therefore brighter and more lithe than most new world Chardonnays.
Spontaneous fermentation. Grapes see 25% skin contact for 3 hours with a slight foot treading before press, followed by browning juice. Aged on the lees in neutral Burgundy puncheons for 22 months prior to being bottled unfined and unfiltered with less than 30ppm of SO2.
This Chardonnay comes from Brook’s own vineyard and two neighboring vineyards on Underwood Mountain. Vineyards are all organically certified. Average age of vines is 18 years. Sandy-ashy buckshot loam topped with 5” of windblown loess. Dry farmed vineyard with biodynamic viticulture practices employed.
