The Vermentino has a mineral salinity to it that speaks to its place of origin, with notes of green apple, grapefruit and lime, and refreshing acidity. A short period of lees contact increases mid-palate texture.
Fermented without the use of commercial yeasts in stainless steel tanks with a short period of lees contact. The wine ages in stainless steel tanks for 8-12 months before being bottled without fining or filtration.
Mario Bagella is a second generation winemaker, and his family has been growing grapes on Sardinia for over 75 years. The Bagella’s farm is roughly 12.5 acres in Sorso on land that overlooks the sea. Their vines are on average 80-90 years old. Mario oversaw the recent conversion from conventional farming to organic.
