Golden delicious apples, yellow peaches, musk melon and honey on the nose and through to the palate, the medium acidity is balanced by pleasant fleshiness, finishing very clean with a hint of minerality. Refreshing and with moderate alcohol.
Fruit is harvested a number of times during the ripening period to achieve complexity, completeness and balance in the wine. Grapes are whole cluster pressed and fermented and aged in seasoned French oak barrels with only native yeast. Two-fifths of the barrels are allowed to go through malolactic fermentation.
Vines at Linda Vista Vineyard were originally planted in 1989 by Beringer, and were leased by Matthiasson in 2011. They farm it themselves, converting it to organic farming and re-invigorating the beautiful old vines. The West Oak Knoll area is one of the classic Chardonnay spots in Napa, going back to the 60s.
