An earthy, plummy Gamay Noir full of spice and delicate tannins. Lush fruit is framed by fresh acidity for a medium-to-full-bodied, concentrated wine.
Variety: 100% Gamay Noir
Vineyard: Rancho Coda Vineyard
Location: Russian River, CA
Alcohol: 13%
Plums, fresh tilled earth, black plums, cinnamon stick, licorice and black cherry aromas fill the alluring nose of this deeply saturated wine. Luscious fruit fills the palate, but the delicate tannins and some serious natural acidity frame this wine and gives it the room it needs to strut its pure Sonoma Coast fruit. This is bigger and more concentrated than any Gamay that Pax has released to date.
100% whole cluster fermented, partial carbonic maceration. Aged 10 months in neutral French oak barrels.
Rancho Coda sits above the middle reach of the Russian River Valley. At an elevation of nearly 1000ft at its high point, the vines sit on top of the fog that rolls in along the river below. The soils are comprised of fractured sandstone with quartz and schist veins covered by a thin layer of sandy clay loam. Sustainably farmed.
