Very fragrant with bright red fruit with a slight earthiness, smooth tannins and good acidity.
Both sites were fermented similarly, with a small amount of stem inclusion, gentle pumpovers and pressing at dryness. The wines were racked for clarity in the spring and then again in the following fall to be blended and bottled. All aging was done in neutral oak, both primary and malolactic were allowed to commence spontaneously, no fining or filtration and only sulfer was added.
This wine was made entirely from grapes grown by the Roark team. The grapes came from two different sites, 75% Burning Creek Ranch in Santa Rita Hills, which is almost pure sand, and 24% Walsh Ranch, which is super heavy clay.
