Deep garnet in color with aromas of blackberry, current, violet, spice and black cherry. On the palate a refreshing lighter quality with soft tannins, juicy blackberry, cherry and a touch of spice to add to the finish.
Fermented with native yeasts and aged 18 months in neutral French oak before bottling, unlined and unfiltered.
Coquelicot Vineyard in the Los Olivos AVA of Santa Ynez Valley was originally planted in 1997. The vineyard was acquired by the Rosenson family in 2005 and has been CCOF-certified organic since 2015. The site is planted on Ballard series soils, a gravelly fine sandy loam.
