Sandlands Wines emphasizes vineyards with decomposed granite (sand) soils, which have been farmed for generations but often remain on the fringes of mainstream California viticulture. They are dedicated to producing wines from old, head-trained, dry-farmed, and own-rooted vineyards. This blend comes from three of the oldest California vineyards and is in equal parts Cinsault from the Bechthold Vineyard (planted in 1886), Carignane from Spenker Ranch (1900), and Zinfandel from Kirschenmann Vineyard (1915), the winery's home ranch in Victor, CA.
