Bright and tropical-fruited with texture and balance. Redefining what you consider a Chardonnay to be.
Variety: 100% Chardonnay
Vineyard: Mudd Main Vineyard
Location: Long Island, NY
Alcohol: 12.1%
Cloudy due to extended skin contact, textured and balanced against the fruitiness of the grape. Fruit quality is tropical “going into gewürztraminer land.”
Hand-harvested and sorted, crushed and kept on the skins for 7 days. Barrel fermented in large, used oak casks (230 gallon) with native yeast over 4 months with naturally occurring malo. Unfined & unfiltered.
Fruit comes from 40-year-old vines in sustainable Mudd Vineyard, the second vineyard planted in Long Island way back in 1974. Vineyard sits on Haven Loam with some portions of Riverhead Sandy Loam.
