This vintage is showing ripe watermelon, cranberry & mulberry with some earthy undertones and a tart refreshing finish. Serve with a slight chill.
Pinot and Chard were brought into the cellar and foot-crushed. The whole clusters were co-fermented, receiving one pumpover a day during fermentation for a total of 8 weeks maceration. Raised for 10 months in 500L neutral oak barrels and racked once to tank before bottling. Bottled unfined & unfiltered with zero sulfur.
Coastview Vineyard straddles an exposed ridge of limestone, granite and chalk soils at 2400 feet elevations with sweeping views. It was purchased in the 90s by John Allen, who continues to organically farm the vineyard with his son, Allen. Together they take a holistic approach with a focus on sustainability.
