A lovely garnet colored Pinot Noir showing bright fruit, cherry, cranberry, strawberry. It definitely has some flintiness, mineral, spicey notes of dried fruits, cinnamon, nice grippy tannins.
Hand-harvested, destemmed and on the skins, four weeks of punchdowns. Fermented on wild yeast in neutral oak barrels.
Grapes are from Z Farm in the Willamette Valley. Planted at 900 feet and dry-farmed with minimal intervention. Zenczak is the last name of the owner of the vineyard. The vineyard site is cool with a laid-back management style, so the vines can look a bit messy and lots of overgrown ground cover.
