A fresh and vibrant skin ferment Trousseau Gris, easy drinking like a slightly salty rosé with layered nuanced complexity.

Variety: 100% Trousseau Gris
Vineyard: Fanucci Vineyard
Location: Russian River Valley, North Sonoma County
Alcohol: 12%
Production: 360 cases

A wine crafted to be fresh and vibrant, easy drinking with layered nuanced complexity. A fun introduction to skin contact wines, like a slightly salty rosé, with white ripe peach aromatics and flavor.

Grapes are first destemmed, to embrace freshness, crushed to maximize skin contact, and left on the skins in open small ¾ ton bins for the start of fermentation. Fermentation occurs naturally with indigenous yeast, with no additions or cold soak, with two punch downs a day, by hand. After 5 days, wine was pressed off the skins into neutral French oak barrels, without settling to finish primary fermentation, then ML natively, for 7 months total elevage. The wine remained on heavy lees for 5 months unstirred, until racking 1 month before bottling with no fining, filtration or additions other than a small amount of SO2.

The Fanucci vineyard is the only identified dedicated Trousseau Gris planting in California, other than some field blends. The cool, foggy west Russian River site, planted on low pH, sandy loam soils, allows gradual ripening with fresh acidity.
