Johan Vineyards 2010 Brut Nature Estate
Corollary 2017 Brut Cuvée One
Forlorn Hope 2014 Riesling Heinzelmann

Johan Vineyards 2010 Brut Nature Estate

The Wine: Made from 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir. It’s a full yellow color with powerful notes of herbs, apple and citrus. Lively, intense taut and crisp. Full flavored with a bit of herby brioche, pear and apple notes. Vivid, powerful and delicious. After 10 months fermentation in barrel, the wine was bottled and aged for 9 more years on the lees. 12.8% Alc.

The Winery: Johan Vineyards is located in Oregon’s Willamette Valley on an 85-acre certified Biodynamic Estate vineyard. Their goal is to create a self-sustained holistic farm system and wines that reflect that in their expression. The team consists of an eclectic group of winegrowers led by head winemaker Morgan Beck. They hold an openness to experimentation as well as a long-term view both in the vineyard and in the cellar, nurturing a healthy, diverse microbial system in their soil and producing wines that are alive and capable of evolving over many years.

Corollary Wines 2017 Brut Cuvée One

The Wine: Racy acidity, dark fruit and a stony finish. Aged for 6 months in barrel and spent 18 months on the lees. 13.5% Alc.

The Winery: Jeanne and Dan founded Corollary Wines with the goal of making sparkling wines that showcase the terroir of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. They work with growers and farmers who are committed to farming sustainably and all their vineyards are herbicide free, and manipulate the wines as little as possible. All of their wines age for a minimum of 9 months in barrel and 30 months on the lees to create wines that are incredibly textured and complex.

Forlorn Hope 2014 Riesling Heinzelmann

The Wine: 100% Riesling grapes give this sparkling notes of tropical and ripe orchard fruit with a hint of baking spice and minerality. Made using methode champenoise. 12.5% Alc.

The Winery:

Led by winemaker Matthew Rorick, Forlorn Hope was established in 2005 on 75 acres of organically farmed grapevines at Rorick Heritage Vineyard. They produce organically farmed estate wines and reconnect with California’s pre-Prohibition vinicultural traditions. Forlorn Hope borrows its meaning from the band of soldiers who volunteered to lead the charge and were given a slim chance of success, but immense rewards for those who were successful. With this in mind, Forlorn Hope takes great risks with great reward in their sights.
