Southold 2019 Albariño Sing Sweet Things

Forlorn Hope 2019 Picpoul Trobairises

The Wine:Made from 100% Picpoul, a grape grown primarily in the Rhone Valley and Languedoc regions of France as well as Catalonia, Spain. This wine is coming from the Sierra Foothills of California and is zippy, bright and fresh, having undergone an extended fermentation in all neutral oak. 11.59% Alc.

The Winery: Led by winemaker Matthew Rorick, Forlorn Hope was established in 2005 on 75 acres of organically farmed grapevines at Rorick Heritage Vineyard. They produce organically farmed estate wines and reconnect with California’s pre-Prohibition vinicultural traditions. Forlorn Hope borrows its meaning from the band of soldiers who volunteered to lead the charge and were given a slim chance of success, but immense rewards for those who were successful. With this in mind, Forlorn Hope takes great risks with great reward in their sights.

Jolie-Laide 2020 Melon de Bourgogne

The Wine: Made from 100% Melon de Bourgogne (the main grape in Muscat, primarily grown in the Loire Valley region of France), this wine is refreshingly high acid and has notes of chalky oyster shell, lemon verbena and citrus blossom. It was whole cluster pressed to concrete eggs where it spent 6 months to age on the lees. 11% Alc.

The Winery: Originally founded by Scott Schultz and later joined by partner Jenny Schultz, Jolie-Laide is a tiny, hands-on operation making distinct and fascinating wines in Healdsburg, California. Their winemaking method is simple: grapes are left whole cluster, foot crushed and aged in neutral oak with a focus on French varieties. They employ a natural, less-is-more approach to their wines.

Southold 2019 Albariño Sing Sweet Things

The Wine: Made from 100% Albariño, a variety grown in Galicia (northwest spain) and Northwest Potrugal. This wine has ample body and texture. Expect characteristic light citrus flavors and aromas from this wine, which was aged for 7 months in concrete before bottling. 12.9% Alc.

The Winery: Based in Gillespie County, Texas, Southold Farm + Cellar is a winery that regularly bucks convention. Winemaker Regan Meador believes in farming first and non-interventionalist cellar methods to produce wines that reflect the vast rolling landscape of Texas Hill Country. By embracing unusual grape varieties and harvesting earlier in the season, his wines are elegant and refreshing: a deliberate departure from the often powerful, opulent wines coming out of Texas.
